Questions?
Disc mower knives come in different styles to ensure an optimum cut for every application. There are 2 main classifications- cutting angle and bevel style.
Cutting angle is measured in degrees. Standard options are 11 degree and 18 degree. 18 degree (steeper angle) knives have more lift for downed crop applications and offer a cleaner, closer cut than an 11 degree knife. 11 degree knives are less apt to throw rocks.
Bevel style defines whether the bevel (angled edge) of the knife is at the bottom or top.
A bottom-bevel knife has the angled edge at the bottom and the cutting blade at the top. This helps the knife bounce if it hits an obstacle such as a rock and prolongs the life of the knife.
A top-bevel knife has the cutting edge at the bottom. This offers a cleaner cut than a bottom-bevel knife but they are more prone to damage from rocks.
Field conditions determine what knife is most appropriate for your application.
