The AGCO Crop Tour is happening this year and some promising early results show the advantage a Fendt Momentum Planter offers. One of the factors being monitored in the test plots is compaction. Traditional offset tandems produce ‘pinch rows’ as the plant row between the two tires is subject to down pressure that compacts the seedbed. The Fendt Momentum has inline tandems under the seed tender that match and follow the tractor tires. This removes the ‘pinch row’ effect and also puts all the tires on the same track in the field.
The AGCO Crop Tour test plot chart below shows that the compaction caused by the planter is essentially no greater than that caused by the tractor alone. This is the benefit of the inline tandems on the Fendt Momentum.
